The Magic Circles are computer generated art – using a recursive algorithm to draw the stars, circles and symbols, they are generated randomly and without using pre-made layers of graphics. With this setup millions of unique combinations can be achieved.
The Magic Circles vol 1 book
Magic seals and symbols has a very special aesthetic and their purpose and meaning can be very different for different people. Can some of the Magic Circles be used for your protection? Or maybe as a curse? This, my friend, is for you to find out.
The book was published in july 2023 on Amazon Kindle Direct Publishing. It is currently available as a printed paperback book measuring 6 by 9 inches and it contains unique 333 magic circles on individual pages.
I chose to publish the book under my real name, Conny Holm, solely to be able to brag about publishing a book and and as a result also doxxing myself in the process.
Volume 1 of the book has the same vector artwork as the instagram and NFT artwork but without the black-and-white photo background for a simpler and cleaner look more suited for the format. The book features black print on cream white paper with a matte paper cover.
Magic Circles vol 1 is available on Amazon pretty much world wide with ISBN-3 number 979-8399257983.
The Magic Circles NFT collection
This is our first collection to be published on the blockchain. Other upcoming collections may use these circles in some form but will be very different in style and execution.
With Non Fungible Tokens being the new black in the cryptocurrency community, recursedevolution is both an experiment and a contribution. I want to contribute with my darker, less vibrant art to bring some cursed diversity to the community.
Beneath the magic circle a creepy background is also randomly created, based on photographs taken in the deep old woods of Sweden. Inspiration for this project comes from 90's Nordic black metal album covers, the magic seals of secret occult societies and pop culture as the works of HP Lovecraft and others.
The standard edition of the Magic Circles are all in grayscale with a dark atmosphere. In addition special edition NFTs may be released and these circles will have certain features in color. All our NFTs will be available on OpenSea.
Road map v0.3
- Building a platform. This website, social media accounts and of course setting up at the OpenSea NFT marketplace. Launched in january 2022.
- Begin listing. List the first 100 Magic Circles on OpenSea. Early january 2022.
- Finish listing. In progress! OpenSea does not support bulk or API upload so we are using a semi-automated workflow. Completed january 2022.
- Special editions. Possibly available in the future.

No. This is art, not an expression of religion or political beliefs.
What is an NFT?
An NFT is a smart contract on a crypto currency blockchain. In this case, it gives the holder of the smart contract ownership of the art piece. We strongly suggest that you do your research on the topic of NFTs before buying.

Does the owner of your NTFs own the full rights to the art piece?
No, rights for commercial use are not transferred with the token. Personal use is both allowed and deeply encouraged. Licensing can be done on request.
What stops me from just right-clicking and saving your NFTs?
Nothing, please do so actually. The NFT smart contract is a token for collectors and investors that see a monetary value in the scarcity of unique pieces of art. If you want to download my art, print it and hang it on your own wall – do so! It just makes me happy to see you enjoying it.

Can I license your art?
Yes, custom art can be made for licensing on request. Sold NFTs will not be available for licensing unless you own the token.

About us
At the current state recursedevolution is a one man band. My main occupation is in photography and I'm also very interested in programming, crypto and arts. I live in the woods of Sweden with my wife and our cat. If the NFT projects are successful, we will expand and bring in the manpower needed to grow and to develop further projects.
